At a PAX panel this weekend, Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox, told the audience 90% of the company is working on the thing ‘’most of you guys want us to be working on’’ (via DualShockers). Although it has not been officially announced just yet, I am sure we all know exactly what game he was talking about, Borderlands 3!
A possible Borderlands 3 release hasn’t exactly been a secret either. Pitchford earlier stated in this tweet below that development of a new Borderlands game would begin after finishing Battleborn, a Gearbox game released on the 3rd of May. Pitchford also referred to the upcoming Borderlands game as ‘’The Big One’’.

Take-Two, the company that owns Borderlands publisher 2K Games, has previously said that Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t the only big release during fiscal 2019. Apparently, a sequel of one of 2K Games’ biggest franchises is coming up during that year (via GameSpot). Let’s be real, this has to be Borderlands they are talking about.
Not to mention, at the Game Developers Conference 2017, Pitchford showed the audience a demo of new development techniques that they could use in a future Borderlands game. Finally, Pitchford has previously tweeted a picture of him decked out in CGI gear. He then teased everyone by writing ‘’I may or may not be a psycho bandit in a videogame we may or may not be working on’’.

However, all of this still doesn’t mean it is Borderlands 3 Gearbox is so busy with. Also, Pitchford himself has stated before: ‘’A product does not exist until it’s announced’’ (via PCGamesN).
