Personally, I find it amazing that almost 6 years after its release, Skyrim still manages to be in the news quite frequently. And why shouldn’t it, it remains to be such an amazing game. Last time we wrote about the game being free for a week, this time it’s something even more exciting. Skyrim is getting a much harder, survival mode.
Survival games have been incredibly popular for the last couple of years, with games such as DayZ and 7 Days To Die being on the top of the charts. Bethesda seems to want a piece of the fun too, as it will be releasing a new survival mode for the Skyrim Creation Club. The mode is said to add hunger, fatigue, weather-oriented survival systems and much more. The map is split up in different climate zones, all of which will need certain levels of preparation. You won’t be able to jump in rivers that are too cold, as this could kill you. Furthermore, health won’t generate and if you level up, you first have to sleep to get the health replenishments you’re used to when you hit that next level.
The mod probably won’t be free however, as according to the announcement "both PC and console players will get Survival Mode free for one week once it launches on their preferred platform." No price is specified, but this does imply you would have to pay a certain amount to keep playing after the free week. But personally, a Skyrim mod probably won’t be much more expensive than a few bucks, also considering the fact that similar community-made mods are already available for free.
The mod does look better than most community-made mods however, so we’re excited for the release. Although one thing we are less excited for, is the fact that the announcement says the carry weight will be significantly reduced, which could be fun for true fans of survival, but that just sounds like pure torture to me.
