Are you ready to potentially get scared out of your mind? Good, because the sequel to the amazing and somewhat underrated The Evil Within is almost here, The Evil Within 2. Developed by Tango Gameworks and helmed by the same legend who directed the original game, Shinji Mikami, this brutally horrific survival horror focuses on gore and scares, with a strange and compelling story.
The story is a direct sequel and is set 3 years after the original game by Tango Gameworks. We follow the-always-grumpy Sebastian Castellanos, whose daughter passed away in a house fire years before the events of the first game. At least, this is what Sebastian originally thought. The Evil Within 2 follows Sebastian as he travels to the city of Union. In Union you are faced with the most claustrophobic environments, while also frequently having to roam through horrifically wide open areas that play with your imagination.
“The story we’ve crafted for you is very compelling,” Shinji Mikami says. “Each stage you’ll delve into is very unique. I hope people enjoy the game, and I encourage everyone to thoroughly explore the world.” Although Shinji Mikami did not direct this story as he did for the first installment, it is said that his hands are all over the game.
Recently, a trailer has been released for the game, that shines more light on the main antagonist of The Evil Within, Stefano Valentini. Valentini is a twisted, demented photographer and has control over the world you roam through in the games. He is capable of filling it with the most disturbing and horrible monsters.
